Children’s Memorial Hospital Redevelopment

When demolition and construction is planned in the desirable Lincoln Park neighborhood, GeoSonics/Vibra-Tech is brought in to monitor the situation.

The former Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago’s Lincoln Park needed to be demolished so the site could be redeveloped into 540 luxury apartments, office space, urban retail stores and a children’s play area. The project included the adaptive reuse of several historic structures, including two terra cotta-façade buildings. GeoSonics/Vibra-Tech conducted pre-construction inspections of structures adjacent to the project site. A vibration monitoring and control plan was developed and 35 vibration monitors and 3 dust monitors were installed. GeoSonics/Vibra-Tech monitored ground vibration and dust from the demolition and subsequent construction of the apartment buildings.
