Noise and vibration control must interface with the design of a facility's structural, mechanical, architectural and electrical systems in such a way that those systems do not generate or propagate vibrations detrimental to current or future operations. Experiments using vibration-sensitive equipment impose very stringent vibration requirements upon these systems. Similarly, acoustic design must be integrated in the design of mechanical, architectural and electrical systems to ensure that there is no generation or propagation of sound detrimental to research activities.
